"The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help."

Meet Nicole Karr

Registered Clinical Counsellor, #19204

I am a counsellor, registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), who centers attunement, listening, non-judgment and client expertise of their healing journey in my work. I hold a Master of Arts in  Counselling Psychology from Simon Fraser University as well as a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts. Emotion-Focused and Narrative Therapies heavily inform my work with clients. I also draw from Cognitive and Dialectical Behaviour Therapies to meet clients where they are at.

I acknowledge my privilege as a settler, cis-gender woman, and I aim to de-colonize my practice and offer safe counselling services to queer, trans, non-binary, neurodiverse and culturally diverse clients. I value self-reflection and accountability as integral parts of my own personal and professional growth journeys.

In addition to private counselling, I work as a school counsellor in the Chilliwack School District. When I’m not counselling, I enjoy hiking, running, off-roading, drawing and crafting.

Anxiety

Some worries serve a purpose, and others impact functioning. Challenge those worries that don't help.

Low Mood

We experience a vast array of emotions. Learn new coping & distraction skills and which work best for you.

Interpersonal conflicts

Difficult emotions can come up in relationships. Counselling is a place to establish new patterns.

Identity and self-esteem

We are complex, multi-faceted creatures. Enhanced self-understanding can lead to self-acceptance and increased confidence. Counselling is a place to explore and integrate the parts of your identity.

Grief & loss

Grief and loss impact attachments and identity. Processing is an important part of coping with loss

Stress

Life transitions and changes in a person's environment cause stress. A little stress is normal, but too much can have a negative impact.

Testimonials

In the spirit of reconciliation, I acknowledge that we are honoured to live, work, and play on the Stó:lō traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Ts'elxweyeqw and Pilalt peoples.

In acknowledging all the land holders of these shared territories, I take on my responsibility in reconciliation by understanding the truth and stories of these lands and the peoples’ relationships and responsibilities to these lands.
